Rams Claim Governor's Cup over Brown 2008Commentary: The 6,000 plus fans that came to see The Brown Bruins face the URI Rams were treated to a great game of football on a perfect autumn afternoon. For the Rams, the most impressive aspect of their game was the level of intensity that they brought for the full sixty minutes. The Rams played with the same toughness and grit that they showed against the Eagles last week (against Boston College). In that contest, the young Ram squad played hard against a very good division one team. The question that they had to answer was weather or not they would use the lessons learned that week against their Ivy League cross state rivals. Brown came in ranked number 25 after having beaten Harvard University the week before. The Rams came in hungry for a win and they played hard and smart. Senior QB Derek Cassidy threw for 5 TD's! After the game, the team celebrated the win by accepting the Governor's Cup from Bruin alum Governor Carcieri . Coach Darren Rizzi reminded the Governor that he was an Italian before being a Bruin and that the last two letters in his name were "ri". The Governor congratulated the team for their effort and hard fought win over Brown. After the game, the tail-gating was as good as it gets with the tie wearing athletes devouring the hot dogs, sausage and peppers, and other great foods brought by families and friends. The team continues to improve. Finally a win over Brown without having to go to the final play of the game. Thank-you!
